Have you felt that time is going faster? That the hours are not enough for everything you have to do? Or that perhaps you are trying to do everything? Work, study, exercise, socialize, spend time with your family, your partner and enjoy life. But, do you really do some of those 100% of activities or do you not do them as well as you would like?
You are not alone in this process, it happens to many of us. If you identify with this, keep reading, we will talk about a term that will revolutionize the way you live.
Hello, we are Prannar and today we will talk about Slowliving , a term that if you translate into Spanish you find particular “Slow: Slowly, slowly” “living: living”. Although from its literal translation you would understand by doing things slower, this is a lifestyle that does not directly lead you to do things slower, but to “do it with presence, purpose and focus” said Laura Malloy, director of the Successful Aging Program at Harvard-affiliated Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine.
Now let's talk about everyday life, let's do an exercise, read the following paragraph as fast as you can;
“a routine for most people: the alarm clock rings, you get up or stay in bed trying to understand why you should start your day, when time has passed so quickly you realize that the afternoon has caught up with you, you get up so quickly out of bed that you suffer from dizziness, there is no time to waste, take a bath, prepare breakfast as quickly as possible, eat if you can, and go out.”
I got tired of just writing it, but I also got tired of reading it, but I also got tired of experiencing it. We live to the fullest, and it's okay to live to the fullest when we are truly 100% enjoying and living life. But are you sure that the previous paragraph, which is possibly the event of many of your days, is living to the fullest?
At Prannar, we don't believe that, that's why we explore slowliving , we explore being present in everyday activities of daily life. For today we will talk about presence, the RAE defines presence as:
“Personal assistance, or state of the person who is in front of another person or others or in the same place as them”
Let's stay with personal assistance: “ being ”, we call it in Prannar, that moment where you are experiencing what you are doing. For example, if you go on a trip you are going to explore and learn, you are present because all your attention is there, discovering new cultures, new forms, even new colors. What if we are more present?
Present when we wake up, open our eyes, feel like we are breathing. Presence is even related to consciousness:
“It can be defined as that capacity that the human being has to realize... something” ON HUMAN NATURE: EXPLANATION AND UNDERSTANDING OF CONSCIOUSNESS (scielo.org.co)
Then I realize that I am alive.
We will always end with an exercise in this blog. The exercise is:
Set your alarm 10 minutes earlier than usual, allow yourself 5 minutes in bed, don't get up completely, just sit down, you still have the blankets on your legs. And do this exercise with us
- Take 2 breaths consciously, that is, only worry about taking the 2 breaths.
- Take one last deep breath, this time I invite you to sigh.
You can do it yourself, or keep an eye on our social networks on Instagram @prannar.slow to do a 21-day presence challenge.
Lastly, Ralph Waldo Emerson, a famous writer and philosopher said, “We are always preparing to live, but we never live.” The time has come to live.
